EMC At A Glance


Eastern Medical College and Hospital (EMC&H), situated in the Cumilla District of Bangladesh is one of the leading medical college under Chittagong University and Chittagong Medical University.

Its academic activities was started at Race Course Campus in July 2005 and shifted to new Kabila Campus at 2009.

EMC&H is recognized by Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC) and approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Walfare (MOH&FW), Bangladesh.

EMC Campus & its Location

  • EMC campus is located beside the Dhaka–Chittagong Highway at Kabila in Burichang Upazila, in the Cumilla District of Chittagong Division.
  • The Kabila campus has a 7 storey academic building and 600-bedded hospital building that are attached.
  • Behind the main building there is a 12 storey acdemic and hospital building extension.
  • Inside the campus a 6 storey Boy's Hostel and another 6 storey girl's hostel is situated.
  • A 6 storey separate Dormitory building for Interns and Residential Doctors & Teachers is located inside the campus.
  • The campus also have two big playground, a basketball field, a beautiful lake surrounded by garden and a nice Mosque.

MBBS Course & Internship in EMC

  • EMC offers a 5 years MBBS Course as approved by Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC) leading to Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree of the Chittagong Medical University.
  • An one-year Internship Training after completing MBBS course is compulsory for all graduates to get full Registration from BM&DC to practice medicine as Physician.

Institutional Background

  • Eastern Medical College was established in 2005 with the initiative of 4 Honourable Founder Directors Prof Dr Musleh Uddin Ahmed, Mr Shah Md. Selim PhD, Prof Dr Md Kalim Ullah and Dr. Md. Abdul Quddus Akhand.
  • Then 12 more Honourable founder directors joined EMC named Prof Dr Golam Samdani, Prof Dr Md Ataur Rahman, Prof Dr Md Shahab Uddin, Prof Dr Md Azizul Haque, Prof Dr Md Khorshed Alam, Prof Dr Nurjahan Begum, Prof Dr Md Shamsuzzaman, Dr. Kamrun Naher, Dr. Zamir Ahmed, Mr Md Jahangir Bhuiyan, Mr Md Kamrul Islam and Late Mr. Md. Abdur Rouf to fulfill the dream of EMC to produce competent Humanitarian doctor and deliver quality medical service to the Patient at cheap rate.
